Introduction:
So, here we are… I wish I could tell you all where we went wrong as a society, but I simply cannot. Being the child of a generation as selfish as the Baby Boomers and Gen X presented more challenges than it did yield benefits while growing up. I’ve been on this earth for over four decades and have witnessed events that no other generation was subjected to in their time. For instance, mine was the generation that witnessed the horror of the first school shooting in America. Columbine High School, where two mentally ill, unguided teenagers decided that it was better to shoot their classmates than to address any problems through communication. As a young adult, circa 2001, I had the loathsome privilege of being alive during one of the most devastating terrorist attacks on home soil; of course, I’m referring to September 11th, 2001. I was a young enlisted Marine in the 2nd Maintenance Battalion 2nd Marine Logistics Group in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina during this time. The war would consume the next nine years of my life, the Marine Corps, and my family at the time. With my marriage ended and my contract with the Marine Corps completed, I was awarded an Honorable Discharge on October 11th, 2010, and returned home to the small mill village of Lanett, Alabama.
Well, We’re Waiting:
Yeah, yeah, keep your shirt on. I’m getting there. I just had to set up a bit of backstory for later references to show you I’ve been around, and I’ve seen some horrifying times, but nothing compares to what I see today when I consume media. Just to give a glimpse of what I’ve seen in this week alone, billionaire former president Donald Trump held a town hall-style meeting with the media to answer questions from women voters and claimed he was the “father of IVF “ (In Vitro Fertilization). Then he had a rally where he was supposed to answer questions from the Hispanic community, and not only did he botch that, he got appropriate reactions out of people listening to his rambling bullshit of ever-flowing nonsense by showing confused expressions as any rational human being would after hearing his ramblings.
Also, this week, Trump recently decided to get minimum wage experience at a McDonald’s. Simply because Mrs. Harris said, she worked at one in her youth. I found this to be very cringe-worthy because it not only insults the average fast food worker by shutting down their store for a day just so this jackass could try to make himself look more “approachable” and “Blue Collar” while saying that their job is easy. I can’t say that last part for sure, but it sounds like something he would rattle off to discount anything Kamala has done. I would have liked nothing more than to see someone throw their drink at him because their order wasn’t correct or yell at him and demean him because he didn’t pay enough attention to the people at the counter in line. We all know that won’t happen because the rich are worshipped in this country like little deities; everyone’s got their favorite. The batshit insane Republicans have Trump, obviously, along with Elon Musk and several other foreign billionaires. Meanwhile, the progressives have Taylor Swift, a singer/songwriter who has become a pop culture icon through the eyes of her fans. Surprisingly enough, after sifting through some YouTube videos, I found that Marc Cuban from the show “Shark Tank” supports more progressive policies because he genuinely sees people as people and not numbers, tools, or suckers.
Trump, by the way, has found a way to legally and methodically instill a fascist government. If he wins this year’s presidency, it’s Project 2025. He’s stacked the SCOTUS (Supreme Court Of The United States) with justices that essentially give him his way out of criminal repercussions for obvious trespasses on the laws of our country. January 6th, he convinced a group of his followers to lay siege to the capitol building to prevent legal votes from being certified. The rioters (and that’s EXACTLY what they were) destroyed property and injured police, with several people losing their lives in the incident. Is this normal behavior for a presidential candidate? I don’t think so; in fact, I believe that this scumbag should not be allowed in this country after all the damage he’s done to it. Oh yes! I just remembered Trump also openly claimed he would turn the U.S. military on American citizens if they opposed him politically. That means yours would be under the gun he once held. Tell me, in what country do you see people of that particular demographic? You know, the journalists are arrested or killed, anyone who critiques the “president” would potentially be eliminated, and people of an ethnicity other than white will be deported, regardless of their citizenship. If you can’t guess, I’ll hint: Mussolini ruled over a place like that; look it up. While this is all happening, his supporters are like glossy-eyed zombies who have to interpret his insane dialogue into something that’s remotely coherent or fits their narrative. Even the staunchest of Republicans in political office have withdrawn their support for this man. How are these people who support him justifying his behavior? Every fact about him that came from his mouth is either an exaggeration of truth or an outright lie. He is an absolute moron whose ego is more significant than his waist size and is easily fucked with. This was demonstrated in this year’s presidential debate, in which Kamala Harris baited Trump into talking about the crowds at his rallies. He’s seemingly easily manipulated, and I don’t believe he’s as tough a guy as these idiots around here seem to think.
The media seems to downplay how dangerous this entire situation is, and they are not emphasizing what these “policies” he has really meant for everyone once he gets into office. I have never been more motivated to vote than I am this year. I have a terrible feeling that if he gets the presidency, that may be the end of democracy and life as we know it. It’ll become worse than anything I have witnessed in my 40-plus years. I plan to vote when the time comes, and I never thought I would witness a time when my vote could decide what level of freedom I will have soon. I hate to be a doomsayer, but I believe if he wins, lots of people are going to be arrested or killed. I also think the government will start monitoring social media even more strenuously than they already do. Searching for the “Enemy Within,” as Trump calls us. I’ll gladly join the ranks of the enemy within as a journalist if it means getting under his skin and promoting democracy.
